Hi
So... Last time I posted here was in 2013, huh? Sorry about that. I guess life got in the way. I was only in middle school when I was made an admin here (am I still am admin? No idea) and I feel kinda bad for disappearing at such a time. But now that I'm an adult, I might be able to contribute again. The wiki looks great, though. I'm not sure where to start! All I know is that I'd like to pick the brains of more of the dev team and just engage with them in any way I can regarding the game. Well, hi again. Tojoro, I'm sorry for my sudden absence.

Maps and Dupes...
A quick update here, folks may have noticed our image count has dropped, that would be me going through and deleting dupes that were superseded by a superior image.
For example, way back in August of 2011, I got a bunch of mugshots, level pics, level posters and logos from someone who was the admin at a long-defunct fan site. In March of 2012, I acquired the press kit and proceeded to post all of that here as well, but I never went back to delete the lesser-quality pics. Maps have gone as well, I still need to go into each level page and adjust the grammar where any of the tips alluded to locations on the map. The article "Map Notes" has gone too. Some articles will be going away as well, though these are authored by other contributors, s…
Not Him Again!!
Howdy, Kids!
Been awhile, Eh? Lots of change in the real world since I last spoke up...least of which was turning 50. Been re-visiting pages around the wiki and see I need to do some screw tightening hither and yon, as there's some big gaps in text in articles where I've inserted images. Some images have been added that supersede what I added way back. Also gonna give my hand drawn maps the heave-ho as well...drew those for my game guide, thought I'd share them here, but they don't fit. Looking at the page list, I thought it'd be better if any articles I made about the press kit were all moved into the "Promotional Items" article, so the main list looks cleaner. 83 articles looks impressive until one realizes a lot is filler. While we cer…
Man, I wish someone would make a PC version.
Title says it all I really one someone to make a fanproject or pc remake or something I really want to play it again and ps2 emulators are slow and laggy.
Why the Inactivity
First off, a little explination. I am utterly sorry for my inactvity (a full two years now), I've been busy at college and social life, I want to appologize for that.
Also, I had completly forgotten about this wiki until tonight (Merry Christmas!), But I decided to vist again!
I am willing to do anything that needs to be done to make this wiki awesome!
Still here!
Apologies for the absence...not much to add in terms of content, as I don't believe there's anything left, merchandise or media-wise.
The new image I posted was a request from an anonymous contributor who was searching for info regarding the now defunct official site. I'm glad I got those screen shots when I did...the resolution isn't the best, but if not for those, we wouldn't have level images for Gambler's Gulch, UFO, Capitol, Mini Baytown, and Volcano here on the wikia. I still hold out hope that someday someone who worked on the game will visit us and upload/contribute better quality images of the above. I have been keeping a weather eye on contributions and edits folks have been making since my last blog here, (NINE MONTHS AGO!!), an…

Happy Holidays, fellow mutants!
So, a few blogs back, I had shared a post from Dylan Jobe, in which he expressed his suprise and happiness over WotM not only celebrating a decade, but also being included as a "Classic" game on PSN.
Yesterday, I recalled he had mentioned a name in the accompanying post for the level load posters.
I took the liberty of googling the name "Owen Richardson".
Wow!
It appears Owen is the guy who did most, if not all, of the art, once a concept had been chosen. Judging by the work featured in the link below, I would say he did the individual mugshots and logos, the level pics, the series of images used for magazine covers and the promotional items, along with the posters.
It'd be interesting to hear about his thought pr…
Interview with Mike Giam
As you know, I was able to get an interview with Mike Giam from SCEA. The anserws are in! Again, I apologize for my questions, but Mr. Giam was kind enough to make up for it in his answers. Enjoy! = Many children were left in awe by impressiveness of your monsters. Did you have an inspiration like this? If you're asking about inspiration for WotM, it actually drew on two main sources of inspiration. In my case, I was always a big fan of the whole giant monster/giant robot stuff (kaiju), so I was pulling on my love of Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, etc. as well as, of course, Godzilla, Gamera and the like. I can't recall where Dylan, Eric and the other guys were drawing their inspiration from, but Kellan (Hatch) seemed to be pretty ins…
10/30/13, Fanfiction!
I just released the first chapter of my fanfiction, The Second Monster War. Find it on fanfiction.net. Plz R&R.
Thanks.
10/30/13, wilderness sabbatical
Hello again. No response from Mr. Giam yet.
I've been thinking a lot lately, so to clear my head and get answers, I went on a wilderness sabbatical. Since I live in Hawaii, that was about an hour of getting rained on, finding lilikoi (passion friut) & climbing trees. I know now. I know that my highest goal on this wiki is to get WotM2 (or a reboot) released. I know, big goal. Also, that Tojoro is awesome. plain and simple. And that this seriously is the only wiki I can handle being on. So yeah. Life's good.
10/29/13, an interview!
As you probably know, I was able to get a hold Mike Giam from SCEA, who helped make WotM. We have a couple quotes from him here on the wiki concerning the monsters, but new material is needed. So I asked him to answer a few questions with all the politeness I could muster. You would not BELIEVE how I freaked out when he replied! I mean, this is Mike Giam for goodness sake! But despite my excitement, I tried to maintain professional-ness. I think I faltered a bit, but I got some questions out there. Now, not the best questions. I was freaking out and didn't want to bother him, (because he is moving soon) so I cut the questions a bit short. I know, I'm sorry. But the answers are in the airwaves and I should be getting them whenever he has th…

TOJ TO RETIRE?
Possibly, we have reached the cross-roads, my mutated brethren...I found this wikia a couple of years back, when it had the basic framework for me to embellish with some files I had.
These files were from a fellow who had managed the original fan page back in the day, that was long since defunct.
I emailed him out of the blue, and he sent all he had.
This data proved to be the source of my first contributions to this fine wikia.
For those of us in class who have been following these boring ramblings from the old fart, the next contributions came from the press kit I got from an ebay seller in Portugal. Pal demo, minus poster. Maybe 95% of the media disc uploaded to this wikia.
After that, the bug bit harder, and drove me …
Reportage: September '13 Supplemental
So, last July, Dylan Jobe made a post on the Playstation Blog concerning the release of WotM on PSN. He added some images to accompany the text. One of these images was a banner-style pic of most of the level posters.
I was able to edit the image and upload higher-quality images of the level loading posters for Century Airfield, UFO and Capitol!
[1] Here is the link for his original post for folks to enjoy.
Some may wonder what the big deal is...being an admin here, I strive to provide the best quality material for this page, as I feel the game warrants it.

Reportage: September 2013
Been a little while, eh? This time the wait was a good thing, as I have been able to acquire, what I believe is, all of the North American gaming magazine coverage during 2002-03. If it was less than half a page, I didn't bother scanning, ie: most wanted games, top-ten games, ect.
One of the last magazines I got was an issue of Tips and Tricks, that has a picture of Ultra V & Preytor I had never seen.
Though a minor addition, I had taken screen-shots from the official game site before it was taken down. UFO and Capitol aside, there were short "articles" written for each level from the Global Observer News. I've included these blurbs at the top of each level page.
Lastly, I have not given up trying to obtain missing/concept artwork. I have act…

Back at it once again, after a long hibernation. Hope everyone's holidays were fun!
As folks may have already noticed, I've changed up some visuals on the main page, one of course being the background. My co-admin was right, it was on the busy side, but it was better than the blank white before I became admin.
I would like to figure how to make the "newspaper" pic appear like our "sister" wikia for Twisted Metal, which has one large image in the background, as opposed to the "tiles" you see now. This picture was one of the images from the press disc that I would say is the most uncommon, and it fits the theme, as the game booklet itself apes, (no pun intended!), a special edition of the "Global Observer", a ficticious newspaper created by th…
New monsters in town
Hey im new to the wiki. But what is the war of the monsters wiki. And what can you do on here.
Wiki background
I know I haven't been active recently, but I've been preparing and packing for college ( fun fun fun....) but I think the wiki is coming along nicely. I did want to address a glaring issue though.....the wiki's background is a little, well, busy. I think we need a single image background...again, like th twisted mmetal wiki. Only problem, I don't want to use an image already on the wiki....such as an arcive image. So, I can ethier make a custom image or we can search deviant art for one.
WOTM HD on PS3!
Yep, you read that right, Dylan Jobe tweeted this just the other day:
Dylan Jobe @DylanJobe
War of the Monsters gets released as a PS2 Classic for PlayStation3 tomorrow!!! Get ready to smash and bash! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/30/war-of-the-monsters-hits-psn-tomorrow-development-retrospective/
That blog link has some great stuff on it too! Looks like we may have some more hi-quality pics for the Wikia.
Pardon my absence. Spending my spare time helping a friend who was hurt badly in a motorcycle accident in May.
I'll get back at you peoples...in the meantime, enjoy tearing up your fave levels in Hi-Def!

UPDATE: May 16, 2012
That would be me for the past two weeks...busy with dealings in the outside world...LostTMan has been doing quite the fine job with the Wikia, the front page looks great.
Could you let me know if the "Featured Article" PNG is workable for you...not sure what step I missed that made it so small. I've got the rest of the set ready to upload, (Blog, Images & Media), but didn't want to upload those until you give the thumbs-up on this one:)
Thanks again, Sir:)

Reportage: New Look on Main
UPDATE: May 2, 2012
The Main page is looking much better. Are you able to get the level pics to line up like the mugshots, instead of a single column running vertically? Ditto for the Help column. Once that is done, there really isn't much else to do with the Main page, other than updates. It's up to you if you want to post summaries on Main, I chose to blog, as I tend to be a bit long-winded. If you are still interested in the press disc media, you need to visit my blog post about Dojo Tojoro, which is an alias I set up on FB, just so you are able to privately send your email so I can send you this stuff:)
Other than that, I thank you for your efforts! Keep up the great work!

UPDATE: 4/28/12
Those darn category headings are done! I'm not touching them any more. Once my accomplice works his graphical magic and eliminates the white boxes, they should be good to go, (thanx in advance, Sir:)).
If anyone would like to contact me, I created an alias facebook page for us to communicate through PMs, if need be.
The avatar is the same I use here, I can be found under Dojo Tojoro.
I plan to send those 360 degree image files that I keep yapping about to LostTman to see if he can figure a way to put those here the way they were meant to be seen.
Now that I've done what I can to the front page, I can get going on the other media.
Once I'm truly well and done with the press disc material, I'll get to work on the maps.
On to the nex…
Reportage: Just Who Do I Think I Am?!
UPDATE: 4/26/12
I figured I had to get around to this sooner or later...I hail from New England and have lived here for the majority of the fourty-four years I have walked the skin of this earth.
Yep, you read that right...
Plain and simple, I am a child of the 70's, born in '67...I watched Creature Double Feature on Saturday afternoons, I read Famous Monsters magazine, built the models, bought the bubblegum cards and the beat goes on. I was one of the lucky ducks that got to see the infamous "Force Five" cartoons each weekday after school. (These were the cartoons made by Toei Animation that were repackaged by Jim Terry for US consumption). These mid 70's Super-Robot Anime are what our buddy V is a direct descendant of.
I never really owned a…
Got a little carried away
I seemed to get a little carried away with my role as co-admin. I made some changes to the front pages with out consulting anyone, I'm not used to working with multiiple admins as I've always worked alone. Anyway, I've switched back the front page to it's orignal state. I'm sorry for just going around like I own the place by myself, but I'll learn to be a team player. Besides, two heads are better than one and they need to work together for great things to happen.
Reportage: An Alliance Has Been Forged...
UPDATE: 4/25/12
I guess it's nice to know I'm not alone here, LostTman1093 has agreed in joining me in a Co-Admin role...a 2-Player Co-Operative, if you will:)
I believe Tman is going to bring his skills and make this place even better in the visual aspect as well as more user friendly. I obviously came with a ludicrous amount of material, I've got some skills, but I'm also learning this as I go.
So I am hoping that this mix of youth/energy & age/wisdom, (I'm 44, we'll get into that later!) will make this a great experience for everyone!

Reportage: Revenge of Vegon!
UPDATE: 4/24/12
Well, not really, but I wound up contracting poison ivy after my excursion in the backyard last week.
Yipes!
Anyhow, I acquired yet another gaming mag from '03. this time the September issue of Video Games Underground Digest, which contains a nice 12-page feature with the folks from Incog.
As per usual, this will eventually be added to the magazine section for everyone to enjoy.
The "Levels" heading on the main page is finalized. I just need to make the rest simpatico.
Back to the lab,
~T.
Vegon indeed!
UPDATE: 4/19/12
So, the custom category headings on the front page still need fixing. The "Monsters" one is the correct size I think. I added a black border to it like the mugshots. Everything else will match that.
Spent yesterday ripping down/putting up 32' of stockade fence, and I am junk today. In dismantling the fence I had to do battle with a monstrous growth of Poison Ivy, which was completely interwoven through 16' of the old fence. I had cut all of the major root bunches last Sept. and left it to die over the winter. This beast has nasty roots that spread in every direction and had four nasty root heads that fed the damned thing.
Seriously, all I could think of was big green and ugly from the ruins of Atomic Island!:)
At least it didn'…

UPDATE: 4/17/12
Still tweaking and (hopefully) improving this Wikia. I found a really neat true text "Misfits" font that I've used to create headings on the main page, which is why there are next to no category headings there as of now. I had meant to get these new ones up quicker, but life also continues away from the keyboard. Sorry I left it looking a bit messy.
I may incorporate that method into the rest of the wikia, if I can get it to fly right.
I will do my best to keep this place as neat as possible while I shift stuff around. If you notice the image count descending, that is just me removing some duplicates of my own. A lot of the images I posted last August have been superceded in quality by the press kit files in size and quality.

Zorgulon upgarde:)
UPDATE: 4/12/12
Nothing major, really, just happened to be looking for something else, when I happened across a high-quality (466x466) image of Zorgulon. Not sure why this particular image hadn't shown up before, as it was attatched to a forum post from 2005.
At any rate, I'm happy that all ten of the main monsters now have the best quality images for their respective mugshots. Not to knock what was already there...with this game, we take what we can get!.
Hope folks are digging the tweaks to the front page. I manipulated the mugs and levels on the main page via MS Powerpoint., (which also gave me the opportunity to enhance some of the lower-quality level pics), as I wanted the front page media to look a bit different from the other pages.

Press Kit Update
*UPDATE 4/2/12*
So, for those wondering, I've pretty much posted everything there was on the media disc, and obviously, all can be found in the Press Kit Main page. All that remains is the soundtrack and some copy in Word docs in English, Spanish, French, Italian & German, which I will post for the completists.
This was also the idea behind posting all of the pics that are already here. These all seem to have the maximum size and quality than anything else on the web, so when I'm feeling ambitious, I will replace all the pics that have a better twin.
There are also a bunch of image files that open in Quicktime. They aren't movies, but rather still images that you can move 360 degrees around. As soon as I figure out how to put them here whole, I…
Admin (New)
Hey folks,
Well, I was awarded admin of this site yesterday. I applied for adoption after spending a lot of time here last year sharing what I had, but never hearing from anyone. I was here nearly every day in August and September, again in December and then just recent after scoring that pesky press kit!
Most of the kit is up...I still have audio, video and a little press too. Some images remain, nothing earth-shattering...at any rate, I've gone off about the kit itself here.
The theme is a bit nuclear, I know, but it's a work in progress...I just wanted to lose all of that white space. Same goes for the back image...just there for now.
Obviously, the toxic-green color choice is an homage to the alien fuel that put all of this madness in gea…
